We're seeking a qualified Medical Physicist to join our growing Medical Physics- Development and Implementation team to play a critical role in ensuring the safe, accurate and innovative delivery of radiation therapy treatment.

Reporting to the Group Manager – Development & Implementation, you will support the implementation of new techniques and new technology at sites across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and other international sites.
Offered as a remote position, or out of Icon’s Global Head Office in South Brisbane, the role will be focussed on clinical implementation of radiotherapy systems. Under guidance of Senior Medical Physicists, the role will assist in the commissioning and implementation of technology and techniques in clinical practice. Work will include commissioning of linear accelerators, verification of new clinical software and development of techniques to improve patient care, clinical outcomes and staff satisfaction. Where directed by the Group Manager – Development & Implementation (Phys) this work may include research output with regards to Icons experience with leading radiotherapy technology.
Your responsibilities will include:
Experimental Verification and Commissioning
- In partnership with a wider team, develop and perform tests for verify performance of new technologies and installed technology prior to clinical user
- Validate developed clinical processes to improve patient care
- Investigate methods to improve efficacy and efficiency of verification processes, leveraging Icons international data and experience
- Travel to Icon radiotherapy sites to assist in commissioning projects
- Deliver routine quality assurance activities across treatment delivery, imaging, dosimetry and treatment planning systems
- Support patient-specific quality assurance programs for advanced treatment techniques including IMRT, VMAT, SRS and SABR
- Provide technical advice and expertise to multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Participate in clinical review processes and support safe treatment delivery
- Assist in maintaining radiation safety standards and regulatory compliance across various jurisdictions
- Monitor equipment performance and support service and maintenance activities
- Participate in incident investigation, reporting and resolution processes
- Contribute to maintaining best practice clinical governance and quality systems
- Participate in organisation-wide projects that enhance service delivery
- Contribute to the development and improvement of policies, procedures and clinical protocols
- Provide support across multiple sites when required
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, quality and patient outcomes
- Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to conference presentations, publications and professional activities
- Maintain and expand your professional knowledge through ongoing development opportunities

- Registration on the ACPSEM Register of Qualified Medical Physics Specialists (Unlimited Category)
- Current Radiation Use Licence, or equivalent
