Position: Part-Time Senior Medical Receptionist
Location: Blue Shield Family General Practice
Job Type: Part-Time (minimum 3 weekday shifts, with flexibility for additional coverage)

Blue Shield Family General Practice is a well-established, accredited clinic that prides itself on delivering personalized, holistic healthcare. We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial to maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of our practice.

What you'll be doing

  • Greet and welcome patients, ensuring a positive first impression of our practice
  • Schedule appointments and manage the reception diary to optimise efficiency
  • Process patient registrations, maintain accurate medical records, and update patient information
  • Handle telephone enquiries, transfer calls, and take messages in a professional manner
  • Prepare and organise consulting rooms for medical practitioners
  • Assist with billing, Medicare claims, and other financial administration tasks
  • Provide general administrative support to the practice as required.

  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar customer service role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with patients in a friendly and professional manner
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure
  • Proficient in using medical software, electronic medical records, and standard office applications
  • A warm, empathetic, and patient-focused approach to customer service
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate patient records.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of medical reception experience in a General Practice within Australia, with a proven track record of excellence.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience using Medical Director, Best Practice, or similar clinical software.
  • Availability: Flexibility for a minimum of 3 weekday shifts per week, plus additional cover when required.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in English, with exceptional phone etiquette and the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Ability to stay calm and find solutions in high-pressure situations.
  • Customer Service: Strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and support to the practice.
  • Professionalism: Punctual, well-presented, and reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and office management skills.
  • Tech-Savvy: Expertise in Microsoft Office (including Excel) and general office technology.
  • Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.

Desirable Criteria:

  • CPR Certification: Current CPR training is an advantage.
  • Qualifications: Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) preferred, with experience using PracSoft software.
  • Customer Service: Prior experience in customer service roles outside of healthcare is a bonus.
