Employment Type: Permanent Full Time; 38 hours per week (Part time minimum 24 hours per week to be considered or job share 5 days a fortnight between two part-time staffs)

About the Role

Sydney Local Health District has a long and proud history of delivering care in the community including prevention, early intervention, assessment, treatment, health maintenance and continuing care services designed to improve and support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.


In this role, you will provide high level administrative support associated with the reception desk functions of the RPA Sexual Health Service (SHS), to ensure the smooth running of the clinical services. This includes responding to phone enquiries, data entry, scheduling appointments, processing correspondence, and the provision of Needle Syringe Program with clinical staff assistance. In addition, conducting non-clinical triage patient questions regarding sexual health symptoms, any concerns or further sexual health information necessary to the clinic.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing recall, reminder and follow-up processes as directed, ensuring patient correspondence is completed accurately and within prescribed timeframes.
  • Assisting in the management of interpreter bookings and transport arrangements when required.
  • Receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail, pathology results, referrals, and electronic correspondence, escalating urgent matters appropriately.

Ideal Candidate

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbally and face to face) with a focus on professionalism, and empathy.
  • Extensive experience in the provision of medical reception with proven ability to provide a high-level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and patient administration or electronic medical record systems.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute positively to workplace culture.
