About the business and the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at Thornlie Medical Centre. We are a Doctor-owned, non-corporate General Practice dedicated to high quality patient and health care, serving a multicultural area. We are seeking a casual/part time medical receptionist to join our friendly, supportive team, preferably fluent in both Chinese and English. Pay rate will be negotiable and based on experience.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • General front desk/ reception duties.
  • Meeting and greeting patients and ensuring the smooth flow of patients in the waiting room.
  • Booking and adjusting medical appointments appropriately
  • Handling and receipting Medicare and Private billings.
  • Assisting Doctors and Nurses with their general administrative duties
  • Ensuring that the medical centre is maintained in a tidy and presentable manner, including general cleaning duties if required.

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience in administrative duties in General Practice/healthcare.
  • Intermediate computer skills preferably with knowledge in use of Best Practice or other similar medical software.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with a pleasant telephone manner.
  • Great time management and organisational skills. Able to cope with high volume of phone calls at certain times.
  • Ability to adapt to new tasks and fluctuating time pressures.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Flexibility to fill in hours and help out with sick and annual leave

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $25.00 – $32.00 per hour
