About the role

Working directly with the Chief Medical Officer & Director of Medical Services (CMO & DMS) and alongside the Deputy Directors of Medical Services, you will contribute to the strategic, clinical and operational leadership of Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH). The role provides broad exposure to clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement, medical workforce management, accreditation, digital health, medico-legal and ethical matters, disaster management, education and research.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination policies.
Assist the RBWH Medical Services Team in professional management of all RBWH medical staff and ensure staff have a clear understanding of role accountabilities, governance systems and culture; and that accountability for performance is maintained.
Handle media inquiries regarding medical and patient care matters within the Services, in conjunction with the Public Affairs Unit and the Office of the Executive Director RBWH.
Provide support to Directors and Executive Directors in the management of medical staff especially in the area of wellbeing, fatigue, recruitment, retention, good roster management, succession planning and underperformance.
Using medical administration training in ethics, medico-legal expertise and stakeholder engagement to assist clinical services and the Safety and Implementation Service in the management of complex cases.
