About the opportunity
The School of Health Sciences is committed, through the Allied Health Expansion program, to creating new opportunities to better support the Allied Health labour force needs in Tasmania. The teaching activity for this role will focus primarily on Laboratory Medicine subject areas, with some engagement in other biomedical science areas as required. The incumbent will undertake teaching and administrative duties related to laboratory and biomedical science units at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the development of teaching materials and student assessment utilising emerging technologies. The incumbent will be a member of the Laboratory Medicine team delivering a course accredited by the The Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS). Delivery of the course requires close partnerships with industry, government agencies, health and education sectors, and expertise in key discipline areas such as haematology and transfusion science, with opportunities to contribute to immunology, molecular biology, genomic pathology, microbiology and clinical biochemistry.
What you’ll do:
- Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
- Undertake scholarly coursework teaching of a high quality, including unit coordination, development of teaching materials, delivery of teaching and student assessment.
- As part of a team, undertake high-quality research of national standing.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally, nationally and internationally.
- Facilitate quality work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences for students that has scaffolded, connected and supported andragogical experience.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience and demonstrated achievement in university-level teaching and learning.
- Expertise in the key discipline area(s) of haematology, transfusion science, immunology, molecular biology, genomic pathology, microbiology, clinical chemistry or biochemistry.
- Ability and passion to create effective working relationships, and capacity to foster excellence in teaching.
- A record of effective research higher degree student supervision.
- Knowledge of current practices, issues and challenges in laboratory medicine/diagnostics and biomedicine in Australia and internationally.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155,885 comprising base salary within the range of $114,766 to $133,235 plus 17% superannuation.
