As a Graduate Scientist, you'll gain hands-on experience across a multidisciplinary pathology service, working alongside experienced professionals who are passionate about mentoring and development. From day one, you'll be contributing to meaningful work that supports patient care across Queensland.
If you're motivated, curious, and ready to make an impact, this is your chance to grow your career with Pathology Queensland.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Capacity to build on current scientific knowledge and skills to perform diagnostic testing and laboratory tasks in accordance with accredited protocols, quality systems, and professional standards.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Actively engage in training, feedback, and professional development, demonstrating adaptability across disciplines, locations, and tasks.
Prioritisation of workload while maintaining a strong commitment to quality assurance.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
The successful applicant must hold at least a relevant tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Medical Laboratory Science. The equivalent is a directed tertiary degree that includes clinical haematology, clinical blood transfusion, clinical chemistry and clinical microbiology. As this is a graduate training role, preference is given to applicants who have graduated in the previous 18 months.
Graduate Scientist placement locations within the Pathology Queensland network are negotiated with recommended candidates.
Applicants should note that only a minority of placements are within the Brisbane area.
Successful applicants should note that there may be a requirement to relocate to another location (at own expense) for the duration of the temporary contract.
To undertake some training and development activities, travel within the Pathology Queensland network is required.
During the training period the graduate may be expected to work on a day work, shift work or continuous shift work roster.
Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.
We understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed. All applicants are encouraged to advise the panel of any support or reasonable adjustments (i.e. building access, wheelchair access, interpreting services etc.) that may be required.
