The Senior Sonographer is responsible for the daily operational management of patient focussed, high quality medical ultrasound services within the Northern Illawarra hub and other sites as required. The Chief Sonographer works at all times to develop and maintain a high quality and clinically appropriate medical sonography service to internal and external referrers, and to their patients and carers.
The Senior Sonographer is also responsible for the provision of high quality training in medical ultrasound for approved trainees enrolled in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Medical Imaging (ISMI) Medical Ultrasound Training Program at the Northern Illawarra Hub and other sites as required.
To achieve the above, the Senior Sonographer will maintain a multidisciplinary approach with a focus on patient experience while providing the best possible service within available resources. The key focus is on timely and appropriate service delivery and high quality care.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

- Recognised Post Graduate Qualification in Ultrasound and accreditation with Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
- Radiation Control Licence (NSW EPA)
- Valid NSW Drivers Licence
