Job Impact
As an Aviation Screening Officer, you’ll play a critical role in safeguarding national aviation security at Sydney Airport. Your sharp observation skills and ability to stay calm under pressure will ensure the safe movement of passenger and cargo across Sydney Airport’s 24/7 operation.
You’ll operate advanced screening technology, perform physical inspections, and deliver exceptional customer service whilst maintaining compliance with strict security protocols. This is a role where your attention to detail and professionalism directly contribute to the safety of Australia’s skies and an improved passenger travel experience.
We are currently recruiting for:
- Roles across a rotating roster – once you have completed training
- 5 weeks PAID TRAINING Monday to Friday training to give you a nationally recognised qualification - Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (AVI20118)
What you’ll be doing
- Operating advanced X-ray and screening equipment to detect prohibited items and assess images quickly and accurately.
- Conducting physical inspections, bag checks, frisk searches and Explosive Trace Detection procedures in line with aviation security requirements.
- Providing calm, confident and professional customer service to passengers, airport workers and stakeholders.
- Monitoring access points, walk-through metal detectors and screening lanes to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Responding to alarms, suspicious items and incidents in line with established procedures.
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance with aviation security standards and regulations.
Mandatory requirements:
✔ Eligibility to Work full-time in Australia
✔ Valid Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
✔ Excellent communication and customer service skills
✔ Professional presentation, demonstrated reliability and strong understanding of security protocols
✔ Ability to manage conflict and maintain professionalism under pressure
✔ Ability to obtain and maintain Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
