About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team supporting an adult participant at home.

This is a rewarding one-to-one support role providing in-home assistance to help the participant live safely at home while maintaining independence and participating in daily life.

The participant has significant physical support needs and requires reliable support workers who are patient, professional and committed to delivering high-quality care.

Consistent staffing is important to build trust and provide continuity of care.

Preferred Candidate

Due to the participant’s communication preferences, we are seeking bilingual Mandarin-speaking Support Workers who can communicate confidently in both Mandarin and English.

Mandarin language skills are strongly preferred to support effective communication with the participant and family, provide culturally responsive care, and build trusted long-term relationships. Applicants who are fluent in both Mandarin and English are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will provide one-to-one support including:

Personal Care

  • Assistance with showering, dressing and grooming
  • Toileting support
  • Bed mobility and repositioning
  • Assistance with transfers using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment
  • Monitoring participant comfort and wellbeing

Daily Living Support

  • Meal preparation and assistance with eating and drinking if required
  • Light household duties including laundry, cleaning and maintaining a safe home environment
  • Medication prompting in accordance with company policy
  • Supporting daily routines and maintaining participant independence wherever possible

Community Access

  • Accompanying the participant to medical appointments
  • Community outings and social activities
  • Supporting participation in meaningful activities aligned with the participant’s goals

Documentation

  • Complete accurate progress notes after every shift
  • Report incidents, hazards or health changes promptly
  • Communicate effectively during handovers with family members, allied health professionals and other support workers
  • Follow all participant support plans, risk assessments and company policies

Essential Skills & Experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Previous experience supporting people with physical disabilities, neurological conditions or hospital discharge participants
  • Excellent personal care skills
  • Safe manual handling knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Compassion, care, patience and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently within a participant’s home
  • Commitment to participant dignity, privacy and choice

Essential Requirements

Applicants must hold:

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current AFP Check
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Current Australian Driver Licence
  • Reliable and comprehensively insured motor vehicle
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Smartphone for shift notes and communication

Highly Desirable

The following skills and experience will be highly regarded:

  • Fluent spoken Mandarin and English (strongly preferred)
  • Experience supporting participants from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
  • Experience supporting people with complex physical disabilities
  • Experience with manual handling equipment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with family members, allied health professionals and other support providers

Pay: $43.00 – $77.00 per hour
