Full job description

Australian Medical Research is seeking an experienced and highly organised Medical Administrator to support the overall management, coordination and administration of our medical, clinical and research services.

The successful candidate will play an important role in overseeing administrative operations, coordinating clinical services, supporting staff and ensuring the organisation maintains effective policies, procedures and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversee the day-to-day management of Australian Medical Research
  • Oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of health, welfare and clinical programs and services.
  • Represent Australian Medical Research in negotiations and at conventions, seminars, public hearings,forums, meetings and other professional events.
  • Oversee the selection, recruitment, training, supervision and ongoing development of medical, clinical and administrative staff and support the implementation of appropriate training and professional development.
  • Assist with strategic planning, service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure organisational policies, procedures, professional standards and relevant regulatory requirements are maintained.
  • Prepare and maintain operational, financial and administrative reports for management and relevant Stakeholders.
  • Coordinate communication between medical professionals, clinical teams, administrative staff and external service providers.
  • Support the effective management of resources, facilities and services to meet organisational and clinical Requirements.

About You

The successful candidate will have strong healthcare administration and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate people, resources and services across a medical environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in medical, healthcare, health services or clinical administration.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating staff and healthcare services.
  • Strong knowledge of administrative and operational processes.
  • Experience developing, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures.
  • Strong budgeting, reporting and resource management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to liaise confidently with healthcare providers, government bodies, funding organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A professional, confidential and proactive approach.
