Graduate Social Worker / Newly Qualified Social Worker

About the Opportunity

DD Child & Family Therapy Services is seeking a motivated Graduate or Newly Qualified Social Worker to join our growing team in Alice Springs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Social Work graduate who wants to build practical experience across NDIS, disability, child and family services, therapeutic support and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).

You do not need extensive NDIS or Behaviour Support experience.

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, accepts professional supervision and wants to develop strong clinical and professional skills.

What You Will Do

Depending on your experience and level of competency, duties may include:

  • Undertaking psychosocial and Social Work assessments
  • Providing person-centred and family-centred interventions
  • Supporting children, young people, adults and families
  • Assisting with therapeutic and capacity-building interventions
  • Conducting client observations and gathering relevant behavioural information
  • Supporting Positive Behaviour Support assessment and intervention under appropriate supervision
  • Preparing case notes, progress reports and other professional documentation
  • Liaising with families, carers, schools, support workers and allied health professionals
  • Participating in multidisciplinary meetings and case conferences
  • Supporting participants to work towards their NDIS and personal goals
  • Undertaking community and home-based visits where appropriate
  • Contributing to early intervention and family support activities

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work (Qualifying), or be nearing completion where appropriate
  • Hold or be eligible for AASW membership
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical practice
  • Be willing to participate in supervision and professional development
  • Have an interest in disability, children and families, mental health and/or therapeutic practice
  • Hold or be willing to obtain relevant employment and worker screening clearances

Desirable

Experience is welcome but not essential.
