  • Remuneration: $42.82- $52.27 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Location:Perth Office – with travel required throughout Perth metro
  • Employment Type: Permanent Part-time (0.6 FTE) – Tuesday to Thursday

The Position:

Join a supportive team, bringing your experience to provide essential advocacy supports on behalf of mental health carers across Western Australia.

Responsibilities of the role include (not limited to):

  • Support and inform mental health carers, family and kin by ensuring they understand their rights, responsibilities, and available resources under legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with mental health carers, family members and kin to problem-solve, provide guidance, and connect them with appropriate services, while maintaining accurate records and reports of engagement outcomes.
  • Advocate for mental health carers, family members and kin within the mental health system, representing their needs and negotiating with other stakeholders and organisations to ensure their voices are heard.
  • Facilitate education, training and support through workshops and programs that build carer advocacy skills, and strengthen awareness for stakeholders on carer rights and systemic supports.

About You:

You will have previous experience working in the not-for-profit sector, providing advocacy supports.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. social work, psychology, counselling, nursing);
  • Current Driver’s license
  • Proof of Australian Working Rights

Candidates will also either have or be willing to obtain the following:

  • National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Working with Children Card
