FJ Holden Café – Hughenden, Queensland

The popular FJ Holden Café is looking for a motivated hospitality couple to join our team in Hughenden. The café is a favourite stop for locals, travellers and workers passing through town, so every day brings new faces, good conversations and plenty of variety.

We are looking for people who are friendly, practical and ready to take ownership of the café. If you enjoy meeting people, working as a team and bringing fresh ideas to a business, this could be a great opportunity for you.

The roles would ideally suit a couple; however, applications from two individuals or suitable individual candidates will also be considered.

Available roles:

Full-time Café Manager

The Café Manager will take responsibility for the café’s day-to-day operations, including food quality, customer service, staff coordination, presentation and workflow.

We want someone who treats the café like their own, takes pride in the customer experience and is comfortable making day-to-day decisions.

Remuneration will be negotiated based on the successful applicant’s experience and capabilities.

Casual Café Allrounder

The Café Allrounder will assist with cooking, food preparation, coffee making, customer service and general café duties.

The position will offer approximately 24 hours per week during quieter periods, increasing to up to 40 hours per week during busy periods. The successful applicant will be paid at the applicable casual award rates.

Some additional cleaning hours may also be available at our nearby boutique accommodation facility.

What you will be doing

• Welcoming customers and creating a friendly café atmosphere.
• Preparing and serving quality café-style meals.
• Making consistently good coffee.
• Getting to know regular customers and meeting travellers from across Australia.
• Coordinating staff, rosters and daily workflow.
• Maintaining a clean, attractive and well-presented café.
• Managing stock levels and supplier orders.
• Assisting with menu planning and daily specials.
• Bringing forward new ideas to improve the food, service and customer experience.
• Helping the café remain a popular place for locals and visitors.

What we are looking for

• Friendly people who genuinely enjoy talking to customers.
• Strong cooking skills, preferably with café or pub-style meals.
• Barista experience, which is essential for at least one applicant.
• Previous hospitality experience.
• Management or supervisory experience for the Café Manager role.
• A reliable, positive and hands-on attitude.
• The ability to work independently and make practical decisions.
• A willingness to take ownership and contribute ideas.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and busy periods.
• A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
