About the Department/ Program

Monash Children’s Allied Health provides specialised, multidisciplinary care to infants, children and families across inpatient, community and specialty services. Our team includes Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Child Life Therapy and a broad range of Allied Health disciplines, working together to deliver holistic, family-centred care.

Art Therapy is delivered across a range of settings, with a strong focus on trauma-informed, patient-centred care and supporting the emotional, psychological and developmental needs of children and families.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialist, evidence-based Art Therapy assessment and intervention within your scope of practice.

Contribute to education, research, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
Work collaboratively with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams.

About the Role

Bring your creativity, clinical expertise and passion for Art Therapy to Monash Children’s Hospital!

Join our team as an Art Therapist (Grade 1) on a part time, ongoing basis (0.4 EFT, 30.4 hours per fortnight) at Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton.

Working as part of the Music, Art and Child Life Therapy team, the role will provide developmentally appropriate Art Therapy interventions to support children, families and carers through hospitalisation, medical procedures and health challenges.

Art Therapists at Monash Children’s Hospital:
Deliver evidence-based Art Therapy to paediatric patients, families and carers.
Support children’s emotional wellbeing, coping and adjustment through creative processes.
Manage a designated paediatric caseload with clinical supervision and guidance.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate Art Therapy into patient care.
Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
The role may provide clinical services across other areas as directed and requires flexibility to respond to the evolving needs of the service.

At times, Art Therapists may be required to travel between Monash Health sites.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring a passion for using creative therapies to support children and families, with knowledge of child development, trauma-informed and family-centred practice. You will have the ability to deliver developmentally appropriate Art Therapy, work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, and demonstrate a commitment to learning, professional development and evidence-based practice.

What you need:
A postgraduate degree or Master’s in Art Therapy or Creative Arts Therapy.
Eligibility for professional membership with the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA).
