Full job description

Your role:

Be a part of history, working with conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines. This game-changing capability provides superior stealth, speed and range that meet Australia’s long-term defence needs.

As a Mechanic Nuclear Submariner, you will have a role in the operation and maintenance of the steam-powered nuclear propulsion plant onboard a Navy submarine and associated mechanical systems and equipment.

Your duties include, but aren’t limited to operating and maintaining:

  • Air compressors
  • Freshwater production plants
  • Steam turbines
  • Pumps
  • Valves
  • Heat exchangers

Whether you have recently finished school, currently studying, already in the workforce or you have no experience at all, we’re hiring. You’ll be paid from day one to gain all the skills needed with extensive on-the-job training, including paid world-class training abroad.

Salary:

Competitive Salary + Generous Superannuation of 16.4%
Get paid to train from day one and earn a salary: $60,517 per year

Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you’ll enjoy a salary package starting from $120,514 per year.

Eligibility:

  • For this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have passes in Year 12 English and Maths.
