## Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and technically proficient Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our team and take ownership of the planning, design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of complex telecommunications networks and broadcasting systems. The successful candidate will bring a strong engineering mindset, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work across diverse hardware and software environments. This role suits an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment and is committed to delivering reliable, high-performance communications infrastructure.

## Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, configure, and commission telecommunications devices, networks, and systems, ensuring seamless interoperability across equipment from multiple manufacturers, service providers, and end users
- Develop and present engineering project proposals that clearly define project goals, scope, background, justification, and estimated costs to support informed decision-making by stakeholders
- Evaluate, test, and procure new telecommunications products, services, and technologies, ensuring selections align with organisational requirements and long-term strategic objectives
- Identify, analyse, and diagnose faults and deficiencies within existing network systems, determining the most effective corrective measures to resolve current issues and prevent future disruptions
- Determine appropriate hardware and software configurations to achieve desired system performance, reliability, and scalability across all network environments
- Prepare, interpret, and maintain technical specifications, engineering drawings, and regulatory documentation to support the safe and compliant use of telecommunications equipment
- Determine the optimal type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines, and associated infrastructure components
- Develop new network sites by conducting location assessments, preparing and lodging required documentation, producing technical drawings, and managing approvals through to completion
- Monitor network systems on an ongoing basis, proactively identifying performance anomalies and taking corrective action to maintain service continuity
- Assess current hardware and software performance levels to forecast future capacity needs, and develop short and long-term upgrade plans to enhance capability and system efficiency
- Ensure all telecommunications activities are carried out in full compliance with relevant Australian laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and external vendors to deliver network projects on time, within scope, and to the required technical standard

## Required Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in the design, deployment, and management of telecommunications networks in a professional environment
- Proficiency in network protocols, transmission technologies, and telecommunications infrastructure, including fibre optic, microwave, and IP-based systems
- Strong understanding of relevant Australian telecommunications regulations, standards, and compliance frameworks
- Experience in preparing and interpreting technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project documentation
- Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools, with the ability to analyse performance data and respond effectively to system issues
- Solid understanding of hardware and software configuration across diverse telecommunications platforms and vendor ecosystems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues and develop practical solutions
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Valid Australian driver's licence (where site-based travel is required)

## Preferred Qualifications

- Postgraduate qualifications in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related discipline
- Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent vendor-neutral or vendor-specific credentials
- Experience with 4G/5G mobile network technologies and associated infrastructure
- Familiarity with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and network virtualisation technologies
- Knowledge of broadcast and media transmission systems and associated engineering standards
- Previous experience working within utilities, government, or critical infrastructure environments
- Project management qualifications or experience, such as PRINCE2 or PMP certification

## Why Join Us?

- Be part of a forward-thinking organisation investing in next-generation telecommunications infrastructure, giving you exposure to cutting-edge technologies and large-scale engineering projects
- Enjoy a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture that values technical expertise, continuous improvement, and professional development
- Access ongoing training, industry certifications, and career progression pathways tailored to your engineering goals
