Experienced Barista / Cafe All Rounder – Immediate Start & must be available 31st October 2026.

Phoenix Park Cafe is looking for an experienced and reliable Barista / All Rounder to join our growing team in Malvern East, with an immediate start available.

We opened in June 2026 and are now looking to grow our team as the cafe becomes busier and we expand into longer summer trading hours, functions and evening events.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys customer service, takes pride in making great coffee and, importantly, is the kind of person who sees what needs doing and gets on with it.

About Us

Phoenix Park Cafe is located in the heart of Phoenix Park in Malvern East, surrounded by parklands, families, schools and the local community centre.

We’re a community-focused cafe built around great coffee, fresh food, warm service and creating a space people genuinely enjoy coming back to.

Since opening in June, we’ve been continuing to grow and develop the cafe, and we’re now looking for another experienced person to become part of the team.

Our values are simple: freshness, simplicity, warmth and community. That means taking pride in quality and presentation, keeping the cafe clean and organised, creating genuine interactions with customers and supporting the people you work alongside.

The Role

This is a Barista / All Rounder position. You’ll spend time on the coffee machine but will also work across all areas of the cafe.

The role includes:

  • Coffee service and coffee machine operation
  • Customer service and till operation
  • Food running and clearing tables
  • Assisting with food preparation and restocking
  • Opening and closing responsibilities
  • Cleaning and maintaining the cafe throughout the day
  • Supporting the wider team wherever needed

What We’re Looking For

Previous barista experience is essential. You must have at least 1 year of hands-on coffee machine experience and be confident working at speed during busy periods while maintaining quality and consistency.

We’re particularly looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable and punctual
  • Confident on a commercial coffee machine
  • Comfortable working quickly during busy periods
  • Friendly and natural with customers
  • Clean, organised and someone who cleans as they go
  • Proactive and able to see what needs doing without waiting to be told
  • Happy to jump between coffee, customers, food, clearing and cleaning as needed
  • A genuine team player who takes pride in the cafe as a whole
  • Available to start immediately (within the next week) & must be available 31st October.

We’re a small team, so initiative really matters. If the coffee machine is quiet, we expect everyone to look around, clear tables, restock, clean, help with food prep or find the next thing that needs doing.

Availability & Hours

Weekend availability is essential. Please only apply if you are regularly available to work weekends.

Availability across weekdays is also highly desirable.

As we move into summer, our trading hours will become longer. We’re also growing the cafe into evening events, private functions and other after-hours offerings, so flexibility to work occasional evenings is preferred.

An RSA is required, or you must be willing to obtain one.
