Optical Assistant — Wonthaggi, Victoria

We’re looking for a friendly and motivated Optical Assistant to join our independently owned Optometrist practice in Wonthaggi. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys customer service, healthcare, and working as part of a supportive team.

About the Role

As an Optical Assistant, you’ll be the first point of contact for our patients and play an important role in delivering outstanding customer care. You’ll assist with frame styling, appointment bookings, adjusting and fitting eyewear, troubleshooting eyewear issues, and general front-of-house duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcoming and assisting patients in a professional manner
• Helping customers choose frames and lenses to suit their needs
• Adjusting and fitting eyewear for comfort and functionality
• Troubleshooting and resolving basic eyewear issues and repairs
• Booking and managing appointments
• Processing payments and health fund claims
• Maintaining a clean and organised store

About You

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Friendly, reliable, and well-presented
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Previous retail, reception, or optical experience is preferred but not essential
• Ability to work at our Cowes store as required

Position Details

• Location: Wonthaggi
• Employment Type: Full-time, though permanent part-time may be considered for the right candidate
• Salary: Competitive and based on experience
