Where you'll be working
Shellharbour Hospital is a 197 bed, acute facility providing a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. The inpatient services include aged care, medical, surgical, mental health and acute medical assessment inpatient beds, plus a day surgery unit. The hospital also provides emergency services, elective surgical services, general medical, antenatal and primary family health care, satellite renal dialysis, as well as adolescent and adult mental health services. Construction is also underway for the development of the new Shellharbour Hospital.

Your Role as the CMO
The Career Medical Officer (CMO) is an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team. The CMO will provide supervision to junior doctors and high-quality medical services to patients of ISLHD under the supervision of specialist staff. The CMO will participate in a rotating roster of days, evenings, nights and weekends and will have the opportunity to work at various hospitals across ISLHD. The successful candidate will have the ability to lead the department overnight with well-developed critical care skills.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia Five Years postgraduate experience or greater (CMO Grade

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Participation in after-hours roster commitments and rotations to other emergency departments in the ISLHD
- Sufficient skills knowledge and experience to practice as a safe and competent Emergency CMO. Post graduate Qualifications in or relevant to Emergency Medicine or significant experience in Emergency medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to coordinate services across multiple providers
- Good leadership and teamwork skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
