Description:
Job Requisition ID: 40416
Multiple opportunities across a range of job levels and locations
Mentoring programs – receive support and coaching to progress your career
Recognition culture to celebrate milestones and discounts at hundreds of retailers
You're early in your career and you already know that treasury, risk, and financial services is where you want to be. Whether your background is in banking, audit, quantitative modelling, or financial risk, we'd love to hear from you. We have multiple opportunities across our Treasury & Risk team and we're looking for curious, driven people who want to build their expertise across some of the most complex and rewarding work in the industry.
About the team
Our Treasury & Risk team sits within Deloitte's Sustainability and Specialised Assurance practice and works across two complementary areas.
On one side, we help Australia's leading banks and financial institutions strengthen their treasury, capital, and liquidity risk frameworks. This includes prudential risk, market risk (traded and non-traded), internal audit, and regulatory advisory work across APRA standards.
On the other, we advise a broad range of clients on valuations, financial modelling, credit risk, quantitative modelling, and financial risk management. Our clients span financial services, energy, technology, and government, from ASX-listed companies to private businesses and government departments.
What ties it all together is a collaborative, high-performing team that genuinely invests in its people. You'll work alongside experienced Partners, Directors, and Managers who will coach you, challenge you, and help you build a career path that works for you. We're growing, and we want people who want to grow with us.
What will your typical day look like?
Your day will depend on the area you work in, but across the team you can expect real, meaningful work from the start. You won't be waiting on the sidelines.
Depending on your skills and interests, your work could include:
Reviewing liquidity, capital, or market risk frameworks for major banking clients
Supporting the development, validation, or monitoring of credit risk models (PD, LGD, EAD) for IFRS9 or Regulatory Capital purposes
Assessing the impact of new or evolving APRA prudential standards and helping clients respond
Building or reviewing financial models to support corporate transactions, capital investments, or complex financial instruments
Running data analysis, coding in Python, R, SAS, or SQL, and preparing model documentation
Supporting treasury due diligence on buy-side or sell-side M&A transactions
Conducting AASB 13 fair value methodology reviews or providing AASB 9 hedge accounting support
Researching regulatory and accounting changes and helping translate them into practical client advice
Working closely with senior team members across multiple engagements, learning how to manage client relationships and deliver high-quality work
The variety across this team is one of its biggest strengths. You'll get exposure to different clients, sectors, and problem types early in your career, which is hard to find elsewhere.
Enough about us, let's talk about you.
You don't need to tick every box. We're looking for people with 1 to 6 years of experience who are genuinely interested in treasury, risk, and financial services, and who want to keep learning and developing. You might have deep experience in one area or broader exposure across a few. Either way, we want to hear from you.
You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:
A relevant degree in finance, commerce, economics, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, engineering, or a related field
1 to 6 years of experience in professional services, banking, or financial institutions, across areas such as audit, risk, treasury, quantitative modelling, or financial advisory
Exposure to one or more of the following : liquidity risk, capital management, market risk, credit risk modelling, valuations, financial modelling, or treasury operations
Some familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as APRA Prudential Standards, IFRS9, AASB 13, or Basel standards, or a strong willingness to learn
Working knowledge of analytical tools such as Python, R, SAS, SQL, VBA, or Excel at an advanced level
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a structured approach to your work
Clear communication skills. You can explain technical concepts in a way that makes sense to different audiences
A collaborative, team-first mindset. You're open to feedback, willing to pitch in, and keen to support your colleagues
Progress towards or completion of CA, CPA, CFA, FRM, or CIA is valued but not essential at this stage
Curiosity about emerging areas such as climate risk modelling, machine learning, or AI techniques is a bonus
