## Electrician (Special Class)

## Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Electrician (Special Class) to join our team and take ownership of complex electrical and electronic systems across a range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical foundation, a sharp diagnostic mind, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. This role suits a motivated trade professional who thrives in technically demanding settings and is capable of working both autonomously and collaboratively. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and integrity of critical electrical systems across our operations.

## Key Responsibilities

- Interpret and analyse blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to plan and sequence installation or repair work accurately and efficiently.
- Measure, mark out, and establish insulation reference points to ensure precise installation and compliance with design requirements.
- Select, cut, and connect appropriate wire and cable to terminals, connectors, and distribution points in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Utilise a range of electrical and electronic test instruments to systematically trace, diagnose, and resolve faults within complex circuitry and control systems.
- Repair and replace faulty wiring, defective components, and worn equipment to restore system functionality and prevent further failure.
- Position, install, and commission electrical switchboards and control panels, ensuring all connections meet relevant regulatory and safety requirements.
- Connect and integrate electrical systems to the main power supply, verifying correct phase, load balancing, and protective measures prior to energising.
- Conduct continuity testing and functional verification of completed circuits to confirm safe and effective operation before handover.
- Install, maintain, and service high-voltage and specialised electrical equipment, applying advanced knowledge of complex electrical and electronic systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other trades to deliver projects on time, to specification, and within agreed budgets.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, test results, and any variations, ensuring full documentation compliance for auditing and reporting purposes.
- Identify and report potential hazards, non-conformances, or areas for improvement in line with workplace health and safety obligations and relevant Australian Standards.

## Required Qualifications & Skills

- Completion of a recognised Australian apprenticeship in electrotechnology or a related electrical trade, with full journeyperson status.
- Valid Electrician (Special Class) licence as recognised by the relevant state or territory licensing authority.
- Current electrical worker licence and registration in the applicable Australian state or territory.
- Demonstrated experience working with complex and intricate electrical and electronic systems, including high-voltage installations and control circuitry.
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, wiring schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Proficiency in the use of electrical and electronic test and measurement equipment, including multimeters, insulation testers, power analysers, and oscilloscopes.
- Solid understanding of and adherence to Australian Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3000), relevant Australian Standards, and state-based electrical safety legislation.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues in technically complex environments.
- Current First Aid certificate and awareness of electrical safety and safe work method statements (SWMS).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and with site management.

## Preferred Qualifications

- Certificate IV in Electrotechnology or higher-level qualification in a relevant electrical or engineering discipline.
- Experience in specialised industries such as mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, data centres, or heavy industrial environments.
- High Voltage Switching authority or certification for high-voltage work.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), SCADA, or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- White Card (General Construction Induction) or industry-specific site access certifications.
- Confined Space and Working at Heights certifications.
- Experience with testing and commissioning of new electrical installations and reporting to Australian Standards.

## Why Join Us?

- Be part of a team that values technical excellence and invests in the ongoing professional development and upskilling of its people.
- Enjoy a supportive and safety-first workplace culture where your expertise and contribution are genuinely recognised and rewarded.
- Access opportunities to work on diverse, high-profile projects that will broaden your experience and advance your career.
- Benefit from a competitive remuneration package with regular performance reviews and clear pathways for career progression.
- Take advantage of flexible scheduling arrangements and a management team committed to work-life balance and employee wellbeing.
