About Purple House
Our mission is to improve the lives of people with renal failure, reunite families and reduce the impact of kidney disease in our communities. We are run by Aboriginal people for Aboriginal people and work to provide culturally appropriate health, aged care and general support services in regional and remote communities, helping people to get home to country and family.
About the Role
The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for scheduling and performing routine repair and maintenance activities of medical equipment and water systems. Inspect, install, and perform inventory assessments and preventative maintenance of medical equipment. This position is also responsible for assisting and supporting the clinical and administrative staff in the use of equipment across multiple locations.
Key responsibilities
- Performs timely routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities to dialysis equipment and water treatment systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices and systems in accordance with relevant standards.
- Provide technical assistance and instructions to clinical teams for operation and maintenance.
- Implement and support clinical education for general medical device usage and maintenance.
- Attend and successfully complete all technical training programs.
- Manage and maintain medical device assets.
- Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failures.
- Investigate and recommend improvements to enhance the delivery of dialysis treatment.
- Work and thrive in some of Australia’s most remote communities, adapting to the unique challenges and conditions of working in remote Australia; servicing communities to the best of our ability.
- Respond in a timely manner to technical queries and faults.
- Able to effectively communicate between clinical and administrative staff as well as patients.
- Other duties as required.

Highly Desirable
- You have experience working for an Aboriginal organisation and awareness of the issues pertaining to this region.
- You have experience working in an industrial/dialysis/medical technical setting.
