Full job description
Fuse Recruitment are seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations at a busy electronic waste recycling facility. This is a pivotal role, overseeing a large operational team and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant processing of electronic waste.
The Client:
Located in the Fairfield region, this well-established operation is a leading specialist in the responsible recycling and recovery of electronic waste. The site focuses on processing end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment from commercial, industrial, and government sources, with a strong emphasis on environmental compliance, data security, and material recovery.
The facility handles a wide range of e-waste streams including IT and telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics, batteries, and electrical components. Using a combination of manual dismantling and advanced processing techniques, materials such as metals, plastics, and circuit boards are separated and prepared for downstream recovery, ensuring minimal waste is sent to landfill.
For You:
You will report to the Site Manager and lead a large, multi-skilled team of machine operators, forklift operators, hand sorters and leading hands, across the facility. You will be responsible for supervising day-to-day production operations, including Machine and line production management, weight monitoring of incoming goods, managing sorters, machine operators and forklift operators and supervising the full recycling and sorting process, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality outcomes. Working closely with your team and Leading Hands, you will provide guidance, support, and coaching while managing workflow, resources, and operational priorities. This is an excellent opportunity to take a senior leadership role in a fast-paced e-waste recycling environment while showcasing your supervisory expertise, operational planning skills, and commitment to safety and efficiency.

You will be a hands-on leader who leads by example, holds themselves accountable and one that leads by motivating and mentoring your team to meet and exceed operational and production targets. You won’t be afraid to step onto the floor and assist with day-to-day activities, from supervising Leading hands, machine operators, forklift drivers, and hand sorters to supporting receiving, dispatch, and recycling processes. Your active involvement will drive team performance, operational efficiency, and a strong safety culture across the site.

You will report to the Site Manager and lead a large, multi-skilled team of machine operators, forklift operators, hand sorters and leading hands, across the facility. You will be responsible for supervising day-to-day production operations, including Machine and line production management, weight monitoring of incoming goods, managing sorters, machine operators and forklift operators and supervising the full recycling and sorting process, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality outcomes. Working closely with your team and Leading Hands, you will provide guidance, support, and coaching while managing workflow, resources, and operational priorities. This is an excellent opportunity to take a senior leadership role in a fast-paced e-waste recycling environment while showcasing your supervisory expertise, operational planning skills, and commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising the day shift and managing up to 20 staff, including machine operators, forklift operators, leading hands and hand sorters
- Directly managing 3 Leading Hands as part of your reporting structure
- Overseeing all Production activities, including monitoring weights of incoming goods, sorters, shredder machinery, optical sorting machinery, machine operators and forklift operators
- Supervising the full recycling and sorting process across multiple production lines
- Assisting the Manufacturing manager with production scheduling and line runs
- Monitoring machinery and lines (troubleshooting handled by the onsite maintenance team)
- Assisting the Site Manager with operational progress reports and shutdown planning
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and operational delays
- Coordinating procurement of materials from external suppliers and scheduling site-based equipment and labour resources
- Ensuring client requests are met and liaising with other business units as required
- Resolving operational issues and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships
- Fostering positive working relationships with team members and promoting a safe, productive work environment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment in line with WHS standards.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Supervisory or Senior leading Hand experience in an E- waste manufacturing environment
- Experience managing teams of 15+ staff
- Previous production planning experience in an E-waste setting
- Previous experience with shredders, optical sorters and industrial production machinery
- Experience managing hand sorting teams, E-waste disassembling teams, machine operators and forklift operators
- An understanding of product weight receiving and documentation
- LF forklift licence with practical operating experience
- Industrial machine operating experience preferably from E-Waste recycling or waste environments
- Intermediate IT skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to resolve customer service issues
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Hands-on, practical approach with a focus on safety and efficiency
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to complete machine operating, forklift operating and manual handling tasks as required
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent WHS knowledge
- Tertiary qualifications in frontline management is highly advantageous
