Full job description

Abu Care Services is seeking compassionate, reliable, and committed Disability Support Workers to join our growing team.

As a Support Worker, you will play a frontline role in providing high-quality, person-centred care to people with disabilities. Your primary focus will be supporting clients with their daily living activities, promoting independence, respecting individual choice, and encouraging meaningful participation within the community.

This position requires a combination of practical assistance, emotional support, professional communication, accurate reporting, and a strong commitment to client dignity, privacy and safety.

Key Responsibilities

As a Disability Support Worker with Abu Care Services, your responsibilities may include:

  • Personal Care: Assisting clients with personal hygiene, bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding and safe mobility while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
  • Specialised Care: Providing support with specific care needs such as catheters, ostomies, medication and other individual requirements following appropriate training.
  • Household Support: Assisting with cleaning, laundry, meal preparation and general household duties to maintain a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Community Access: Supporting clients with transport and participation in social and recreational activities, medical appointments, shopping, banking and other personal errands.
  • Behavioural Support: Encouraging positive behaviours and responding appropriately to challenging behaviours or crisis situations in accordance with established protocols and relevant training.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate and timely progress notes, reports and client records and contributing to individualised support planning.
  • Teamwork & Mentoring: Working collaboratively with the wider team, supporting the onboarding and mentoring of new employees, and contributing to continuous service improvement.
  • Work Health & Safety: Identifying, managing and reporting hazards, risks, incidents and concerns to help maintain a safe environment for clients and workers.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants should have:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or higher, or at least one year of equivalent relevant experience.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current CPR Certificate.
  • Ability to provide person-centred support while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete accurate reports and progress notes.
  • A reliable, flexible and professional approach to work.

Required NDIS Training

Applicants are also required to hold or complete the following NDIS training modules:

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • NDIS Supporting Effective Communication Module
  • NDIS New Worker NDIS Induction Module
  • NDIS Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals Module
