Full job description

Okami Japanese Restaurant is looking for a Deep Fry to join our experienced and award-winning team

We are one of the largest and fastest-growing Japanese restaurant brands in Australia. Due to our continued expansion, we are now seeking 1 Full-time or Part-time staff to join our team. The ideal candidate must have relevant experience in a high-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain deep-frying equipment, ensuring food is cooked to the correct texture and temperature while following safety and quality standards
  • Ensure all food preparation and serving areas meet safe and sanitary food-handling standards
  • Regulate cooking equipment temperatures to ensure proper food preparation
  • Prepare, cook, and season food according to recipes or professional experience
  • Monitor and test food to ensure it is cooked properly using tasting, smelling, or utensils
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients following recipes and using appropriate kitchen equipment
  • Store food safely in temperature-controlled facilities
  • Estimate expected food consumption and organize preparation accordingly
  • Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff to maintain efficiency and quality

Essential Skills:

  • Reliable, punctual, and well-organized.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent time management
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations in a kitchen setting.

⚠ Only applicants with Australian work rights will be considered for this role.

Expected hours: 20.0 – 38.0 per week
