Full job description

Position Summary

Ginger Olive is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Waiter/Bartender to join our front-of-house team. The successful candidate will provide friendly, professional table service while preparing and serving beverages to a consistently high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests warmly and provide attentive, personalised service.
  • Present menus, explain dishes and recommend suitable food and beverage options.
  • Accurately take orders and enter them into the POS system.
  • Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Maintain good knowledge of the menu, ingredients, promotions and dietary options.
  • Serve food and drinks efficiently and professionally.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and promptly address requests or concerns.
  • Set up, clean and reset tables and service areas.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and fully stocked bar.
  • Process payments and handle cash responsibly.
  • Follow responsible service of alcohol, food safety and workplace safety requirements.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen, bar and front-of-house team members.
  • Support private functions, group bookings and special events when required.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous waiter, bartender or hospitality experience is preferred.
  • Current Victorian Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.
  • Cocktail-making and basic wine knowledge are highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Confident, friendly and professional presentation.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in a busy restaurant environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Reliable, punctual and committed to teamwork.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
