As the Pastoral Care Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in enhancing the patient experience by ensuring spiritual, emotional and pastoral support is accessible to people of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, community faith leaders and volunteers, you'll help create an environment where every person feels respected, valued and supported throughout their healthcare journey.

What you'll be doing
This is an exciting leadership opportunity to coordinate and develop the Pastoral Care Volunteer Program across two busy hospital campuses. You will lead volunteer recruitment, education and supervision while promoting best practice pastoral care that supports the physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of patients, families and staff.
  • Lead the day-to-day coordination, recruitment, education and supervision of the Pastoral Care Volunteer workforce.
  • Promote contemporary pastoral care practices and champion the value of spiritual care within the healthcare setting.
  • Coordinate volunteer rosters, training, performance development and compliance with NSW Health requirements.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary teams and representatives from diverse faiths and cultural communities.
  • Monitor service performance, analyse activity data and identify opportunities to strengthen and improve pastoral care services.

How to Apply

  • Demonstrated highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with an emphasis on negotiation, conflict resolution and liaison skills.
  • Demonstrated awareness and ability to work with spiritual needs of all people regardless of faith and culture.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of pastoral care development programs and initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior executives, clinicians and managers within a large complex environment, with a proven track record in building rapport and establishing trust
  • Demonstrated people management experience with large volunteer teams of direct reports
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain continuous improvement programs policies, procedures, standards and practice in a pastoral care setting with verified results
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills and demonstrated capacity to develop, monitor and successfully achieve key performance targets through the effective management of staff and resources.
  • Qualification: One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent
