Join our Pastry Team at Miller + Baker

We are seeking an accomplished Pastry Chef with a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for Viennoiserie, sweet and savoury pies, tarts, biscuits and cakes, and an interest in baking with freshly milled flour.

About the Role

This is a full-time Pastry Chef role based at our Lake Street bakery in Perth, reporting to our Head Pastry Chef. You’ll be part of the pastry team, working hands-on in daily production while supporting product development, quality control, food safety and smooth kitchen operations.

This role suits an experienced pastry chef who values good ingredients, consistency and care, and enjoys working as part of a skilled, collaborative team in a bakery known for quality and integrity.

Who We're Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced pastry chef with proven experience in viennoiserie, who enjoys hands-on production and takes pride in consistency, care and quality. You’re calm, organised and work well as part of a team, taking direction from the Head Pastry Chef and supporting smooth day-to-day operations. You value good ingredients, clear systems and a respectful workplace, and you bring a reliable, professional approach to food safety, organisation and collaboration.

Your Tasks Will Include:

  • Daily hands-on pastry and viennoiserie production to a high standard.
  • Supporting seasonal product development and testing new recipes.
  • Writing, updating and costing recipes
  • Following and maintaining food safety, hygiene and OH&S procedures.
  • Preparation, baking, finishing and storage of pastry items.
  • Manage stock levels and minimise waste.
  • Keeping pastry work areas and equipment clean and well maintained.
  • Working closely with the pastry, baking, milling and front of house teams.
  • Supporting the Head Pastry Chef with smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.

Key skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a pastry chef in a professional bakery or pastry kitchen.
  • Demonstrated experience producing viennoiserie at a high standard.
  • Strong technical pastry skills and attention to detail.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes, systems and procedures consistently.
  • Experience working efficiently in a production-focused environment.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills.
  • A reliable, respectful and professional approach to work.
