Peninsula Health Centre provides comprehensive general practice services, while The Mole Clinic specialises in skin cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.

We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated and organised Casual Medical Receptionist to join our growing team.

About the Role

As a Medical Receptionist, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of our clinics, ensuring patients receive a welcoming, professional and efficient service.

The role primarily involves general practice reception and administration at Peninsula Health Centre, with additional responsibilities supporting The Mole Clinic, which operates from the same premises.

We are looking for someone who is confident managing a busy reception desk, has experience with Australian general practice systems and enjoys working as part of a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

Reception & Administration

• Welcome patients and manage front-desk enquiries professionally
• Answer phones and manage patient bookings, cancellations, rescheduling and follow-ups
• Manage appointments and online bookings using Best Practice and HotDoc
• Register new patients and ensure all required documentation is completed
• Manage emails, patient enquiries, referrals and incoming correspondence
• Import and organise patient documents in Best Practice
• Coordinate patient recalls, reminders and follow-up appointments
• Support doctors and nurses with day-to-day administrative requirements

Billing & Invoicing

• Process Medicare bulk-billing claims and private patient payments
• Manage EFTPOS payments and Medicare rebates using Tyro
• Ensure payments are accurately recorded and reconciled in Best Practice
• Follow up on outstanding invoices and billing enquiries
• Complete end-of-day banking and reconciliation checks

Practice Support

• Assist with reception and administrative workflows across Peninsula Health Centre and The Mole Clinic
• Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality
• Help ensure the reception area remains organised and welcoming
• Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses and other reception staff

Ideal Candidate

• Minimum 1 year's experience working as a Medical Receptionist in an Australian general practice
• Experience using Best Practice, HotDoc and Tyro
• Sound understanding of Medicare billing and general practice administrative workflows
• Must have permanent working rights in Australia
• Strong communication skills and a professional, friendly manner
• High attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A proactive attitude, reliability and strong work ethic
