Biomedical Engineer

Permanent Full Time | 80 hours per fortnight | Monthly day off

About the role

Eastern Health has an excellent opportunity for a Biomedical Engineer to join the team, helping to maintain comprehensive service delivery to Eastern Health hospitals within a supportive team environment.

Successful applicants will be assisting in the delivery of a comprehensive biomedical engineering service by performing clinical troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop and apply biomedical engineering skills at a Grade 1 level.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:
Formal qualifications in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
Eligible for membership to Engineers Australia
Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and their application to medical equipment
Ability to communicate effectively with clinical staff
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Intermediate computer hardware and software skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask
Good theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering
Sound understanding of medical sciences and ability to integrate engineering and medical principles
Strong commitment to high-quality patient care
Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team
Excellent communication and organisational skills

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
