Cochlear’s mission is to help people hear and be heard. As the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, Cochlear is dedicated to helping people with moderate to profound hearing loss experience a world full of sound. We aim to transform the way people understand and treat hearing loss and innovate to connect people with future technologies. Our employees tell us that the number one reason they enjoy working for Cochlear is the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives. Learn and grow with us as we tackle the most complex challenges in helping more people to experience a lifetime of hearing.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to help build Cochlear’s Medical Affairs capability and establish a more consistent, coordinated approach to evidence-based product communication. You will shape the strategy for translating scientific evidence into clear and compelling messages across Cochlear’s products, product systems and category, while balancing scientific accuracy with commercial priorities. Working across a complex global stakeholder environment, you will help define accountabilities and strengthen how evidence is communicated through publications, presentations, key opinion leader engagement and other events.
The Responsibilities:
- Build Medical Affairs capability and help define an effective operating approach across Cochlear.
- Develop evidence spines that support consistent, scientifically accurate and compelling product and category messaging.
- Form the strategy for translating scientific evidence into coordinated communication and engagement activities.
- Align evidence-based messaging with global, regional, commercial, legal and other key stakeholders.
- In close collaboration with key partners, coordinate publications, podium presentations, key opinion leader events and other evidence-based engagement activities.
- Balance commercial priorities with scientific evidence to ensure external messaging can withstand appropriate scrutiny. Help clarify Medical Affairs accountabilities and make effective decisions within an evolving operating environment.
About You
As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- A science-related PhD.
- A background in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical or medical technology sector.
- Strategic thinking combined with a strong commercial mindset.
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work effectively across global and cross-functional groups.
- A builder mindset, with the confidence to take calculated risks, define accountabilities and act without waiting for detailed direction.
- Strong decision quality and an action-oriented approach. The resilience, global perspective and ability to manage ambiguity required to support sustained organisational change.
What makes this role unique:
This role offers the opportunity to help shape and build a Medical Affairs capability that is still evolving. You will have scope to define accountabilities, establish a more coordinated approach to evidence-based communication and influence how scientific evidence supports global product messaging. Success will require the energy to drive change, the judgement to work constructively through complexity and the resilience to build sustainable capability over time.
