Pharmacological profiling is central to translating promising targets and compounds into credible drug candidates. Within this role the Research Officer will design and execute in vitro and cellular pharmacology assays to characterise compound potency, selectivity, and mechanism of action, generating decision-quality data necessary to progress drug discovery candidates through the THerapeutic INnovation for Kids (THINK) pipeline to commercialization and clinical trials.

To succeed you will have…

  • Strong commitment to scientific rigour, being able to plan and execute well controlled experiments and sound interpretation of data
  • Good working knowledge of fundamental pharmacological principles for enzyme and receptor-based targets.
  • Technical skills in developing biochemical, biophysical and cell-based models to evaluate how effectively candidate compounds bind to the target and achieve the desired therapeutic outcome.
  • Experience in working as part of a drug discovery team employing technologies such as HTRF, AlphaScreen, SPR and other biophysical techniques to measure receptor binding. Cell based models to measure target engagement such as CETSA, in cell phosphorylation etc.
  • Proficiency with computational software such GraphPad Prism, Electronic Lab Notebooks and Database systems used to support drug discovery projects.

We will support you to be your best with benefits that include but are not limited to:

  • Working in a world-class, purpose-built facility, the only one in Australia dedicated to curing childhood cancer
