ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
About the Role:
Drive transformational giving. Build meaningful relationships. Help create lasting social impact.
This is a pivotal new (permanent F/T) leadership opportunity for a relationship-driven fundraising professional with a strong track record in major gifts, philanthropy and team leadership. Based in Redfern, Sydney or Blackburn, Melbourne with hybrid/flexible working arrangements.
Reporting to the General Manager, Transformational Gifts, the Philanthropy Manager is responsible for leading a national philanthropy team focused on acquiring, growing and retaining high-value donor relationships, including Ultra/High Net Worth Individuals (U/HNWI) and strategic philanthropic partners.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on relationship management, driving revenue growth while ensuring donors experience meaningful engagement and measurable impact. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop compelling funding propositions aligned to organisational priorities and key campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing national Philanthropy team to achieve strategic and revenue objectives aligned with organisational values
- Drive national philanthropy strategies, building and managing a strong pipeline of major donor and transformational giving opportunities
- Cultivate, secure and steward high-value donor relationships through tailored engagement, funding proposals and impactful communications
- Achieve portfolio growth targets by increasing donor engagement, leveraging data insights and contributing to revenue forecasting and planning
- Ensure strong governance, compliance and risk management practices, including accurate CRM reporting and adherence to fundraising regulations
About You:
- Demonstrated experience leading high-performing fundraising or philanthropy teams
- Proven success securing major gifts and managing relationships with U/HNW individuals
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including experience working with senior leaders
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong executive presence
- Experience developing and implementing long-term fundraising strategies
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management and revenue forecasting
- Experience using CRM or moves management systems to drive donor engagement and performance
- A collaborative and values-driven leadership approach working across geographical borders
Why Work For Us:
- Eligible employees can access NFP Salary Packaging (up to $15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefit ($2,650)
- Generous paid Parental Leave for primary (12 weeks) and secondary carers + Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) + Workplace Support Leave (5 days) for volunteering in Salvos initiatives
- Flexible and hybrid WFH arrangements, access to Fitness Passport and Consumer Discounts
- Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives
- Ongoing training and development opportunities that enhance on the job skills and proficiency
- Rewarding and fulfilling purpose driven careers that have positive and sustainable social impacts
How to Apply:
We are looking for compassionate people who share our mission and values, if you have the passion and drive to commit yourself to a challenging and rewarding role; we invite you to apply via the link and submit a current CV and a cover letter which details your alignment with the essential requirements of the role.
