Casual School Photographers – Western Sydney | 2027
Help us capture school moments that last a lifetime!
Are you energetic, reliable and great with people? Would you enjoy being part of a friendly, high-performing team that takes pride in creating memorable school photography experiences?
At MSP Photography Sydney West, our purpose is simple: To capture school moments that last a lifetime.
Our mission is to create an exceptional photography experience for schools, students and their families through quality, service and strong relationships, making the process simple, seamless and hassle-free.
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and personable individuals to join our photography team for the 2027 school year.
Based in Seven Hills, we provide school photography services across greater Western Sydney, from Parramatta to the Blue Mountains and from the Hills to the Hawkesbury.
The Role
We're recruiting casual Portrait and Group Photographers to work approximately 1–3 days per week during school terms, with time off during school holidays.
Training commences Wednesday, 27 January 2027.
School photography is an active and rewarding role where no two days are quite the same.
You'll travel to different schools, photograph students individually or in groups, work closely with school staff and colleagues, and help create a positive and enjoyable photography experience.
This is a hands-on, physically active role involving early starts, setting up and packing down equipment, and working efficiently in a busy school environment.
Full training, photographic equipment and uniforms are provided.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for people who share our commitment to quality, relationships, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Friendly, patient and approachable: You genuinely enjoy working with children and have a natural ability to make students feel comfortable while building positive relationships with school staff.
- Quality-focused and detail-oriented: You take pride in your work, notice the small details and care about delivering a high standard of photography and service.
- Reliable and accountable: You are punctual, organised, self-motivated and take responsibility for your work and commitments. You understand the importance of arriving at schools on time and being prepared for the day ahead.
- Energetic and adaptable: You enjoy being active, can manage the physical demands of the role and remain positive and focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident with technology: You are comfortable using computers and learning new systems. Experience with Canon mirrorless cameras is an advantage, but not essential.
- Willing to learn and improve: You are open to feedback, enjoy developing new skills and are happy to follow established photography processes and standards.
Previous professional photography experience is not essential. We're looking for the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
What We Offer
- $34.50 per hour inclusive of superannuation contributions.
- Full training, uniforms and photographic equipment provided.
- A supportive, welcoming and professional team environment.
- Flexible casual work during school terms.
- No weekend work.
- The opportunity to develop photography skills while working with school communities.
Important Requirements
To be considered, you must:
- Enjoy working with children in a school environment.
- Be available for early morning starts and varying workday lengths.
- Be physically capable of lifting, setting up and packing down photographic equipment.
- Hold a current Australian driver's licence and have access to reliable transport.
- Be willing to travel to schools throughout greater Western Sydney.
- Hold a valid NSW Working With Children Check clearance before commencing work.
Due to early starts and the geographical spread of our schools, applicants should ideally live within approximately one hour's drive of most of our service area.
Key Recruitment Dates
- Applications close: Thursday, 12 November 2026
- Group interviews (Zoom): Monday, 16 and Tuesday, 17 November 2026
- First interviews (Zoom): Thursday, 19 and Friday, 20 November 2026
- Final interviews (face-to-face): Tuesday, 24 and Wednesday, 25 November 2026
- Training commences: Wednesday, 27 January and runs for 3 days until Friday, 29 January 2027 inclusive. This training is compulsory.
