Hutt Street Photos is an established photographic lab and print store in Adelaide, specialising in film processing, scanning, photographic printing, framing and the preservation of photographic and historical media.

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and genuinely interested person to join our team. This is primarily a front-of-house and customer service role, with the opportunity to develop practical skills in photographic lab work, film processing, scanning and photographic archiving over time.

You’ll be working directly with customers, helping them with film drop-offs, printing and scanning orders, framing enquiries, digital files and general photographic services. As your knowledge and confidence develop, there will be opportunities to learn more of the technical side of the business.

The role will initially involve:

Providing excellent, friendly and professional customer service
Serving customers in-store and answering enquiries
Taking in and processing film, print and scanning orders
Helping customers choose appropriate printing, scanning and finishing options
Operating our point-of-sale and order systems
Preparing and organising customer orders
Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming shop
Handling photographic materials carefully and accurately
Learning the basics of film photography, photographic printing and scanning

What we’re looking for:

You don’t necessarily need previous professional photography or lab experience. What matters most is your attitude, willingness to learn and genuine interest in the work.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has excellent customer service and communication skills
Is friendly, approachable and confident dealing with customers
Has an interest in photography, particularly film photography but not neccesary
Has an interest in photographic history, archives and preserving old media
Is organised and pays close attention to detail
Can work independently while also being part of a small team
Is comfortable learning technical processes and following procedures
Takes pride in their work and looks after customers’ photographs and personal material carefully
Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn

Previous experience in retail, customer service, photography, photo labs, archives, libraries or similar environments would be beneficial, but is not essential.

This is an opportunity to work in a specialist photographic business rather than a conventional retail environment. The role can develop with the right person, with the potential to take on more responsibility and technical lab work as your skills and knowledge grow.
