KCL Law is a medium-size Melbourne law firm led by a diverse and progressive group of expert lawyers. We provide quality advice and deliver highly strategic outcomes to our clients through a balance of expert legal acumen, creative thinking and informed commercial insight in a concise and accessible manner.

Our Estate Group, comprising 2 Principal Lawyers and 10 lawyers, offers its clients complete legal services across estate planning, estate administration and litigation. Our expertise in estate and trust matters is extensive and our team draws on knowledge of estate law, trusts, taxation law, property law and family law to develop strategies to ensure that our client’s objectives are met.

The Role

As our Estate Group continues to grow, there is an exciting opportunity for an estate planning lawyer to join our team. Our Estate Group has strong relationships with accountants, financial planners, family offices and trustee companies, including some of Melbourne’s most prominent.

The role is focused on:

  • Estate planning including wills with testamentary trusts, powers of attorney and appointments of medical treatment decision maker;
  • Family Trust succession and succession planning for family businesses; and
  • Advice on superannuation death benefit nominations and their interaction with estate planning.

You will be mentored and supported by the team’s Principal and Senior Lawyers across a range of estate planning matters.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be keen, confident, detail focused and committed to achieving excellent outcomes for clients in a collaborative team environment. We are looking for someone with:

  • Around 2 years’ PQE in estate planning;
  • Experience drafting wills, powers of attorney and testamentary trusts; and
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage clients clearly and confidently.

You will also have the opportunity to build on existing networks and develop your own practice, with the ongoing support of the team’s Principal Lawyers.
