We’re Civica and we make software that helps deliver critical services for citizens all around the world. From local to state government, to education, to health and care, over 5,000 public bodies across the globe use our software to help provide critical services to over 100 million citizens.
Our aspiration is to be a GovTech champion everywhere we work around the globe, supporting the needs of citizens and those that serve them every day. Building on 21 years of continuous growth and success, we're at a pivotal point on our journey to realise that aspiration.
As a company, we’re passionate about what we do and the citizens we help to serve. If you too would like to help champion the use of technology in public services, to improve outcomes for citizens and public sector organisations, then Civica is the right place for you. We will help you unlock the best version of yourself, achieve growth in your career whilst making a real difference to people and communities.
Why you'll love this opportunity as a Project Manager at Civica
This role plays a critical part in delivering technology outcomes that directly support local communities across Australia and New Zealand. Working within Civica’s Local Government Services team, this position leads complex, high‑value software implementation projects that enable councils to modernise services, improve operational efficiency, and better serve citizens.
The work is varied, fast‑moving, and outcomes‑driven. Projects range from new system implementations to the enhancement of existing platforms, often running concurrently and across multiple stages of delivery. Operating in a highly matrixed environment, this role collaborates closely with consultants, solution specialists, product teams, and customers to drive delivery excellence from planning through to go‑live and transition into business as usual.
This opportunity offers exposure to enterprise‑scale SaaS programs, strong delivery governance, and clearly defined methodologies, while still allowing flexibility in approach, problem‑solving, and stakeholder engagement. It is a role suited to experienced Project Managers who thrive on ownership, accountability, and delivering tangible results for customers.
Requirements
What you will need to be successful in this role
- Proven experience delivering complex software or SaaS implementation projects end‑to‑end
- Strong foundations in project management methodologies, governance, and delivery discipline
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities
- Experience delivering projects to defined scope, schedule, budget, and quality outcomes
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills across customers and internal teams
- Ability to lead in a matrixed environment without direct authority over resources
- High level of confidence communicating with senior client stakeholders and internal leaders
- Experience with risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution
- Understanding of SDLC and familiarity with agile and hybrid delivery approaches
- Strong organisational, time management, and attention to detail skills
- Self‑driven mindset with accountability for outcomes and minimal supervision
- Experience working in medium to large, structured technology organisations
- Project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related discipline
