Full job description

About the Role

Mindful Pathways Support is looking for an experienced Disability Support Worker who is calm, reliable and emotionally mature, with experience supporting people with psychosocial disability.

We take a psychology-informed, not clinical approach to support. We look at the whole person, not just the tasks that need to be completed.

For us, good support is built through trust, consistency and genuine respect. We want participants to feel comfortable with the people supporting them and to have support that builds confidence and independence over time.

This role would suit someone who takes the time to listen, understands that behaviour is communication, respects participant choice and can provide a steady presence even when someone is having a difficult day.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on the participant and their goals, your role may include:

  • Supporting daily routines and everyday living skills.
  • Supporting meal preparation, household tasks and personal care.
  • Supporting appointments, outings and community participation.
  • Encouraging participants to build confidence and independence.
  • Building professional, trusting relationships through consistency.
  • Following individual support plans and agreed strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with the participant's wider support team.
  • Recognising and reporting changes or concerns appropriately.
  • Completing accurate, respectful shift notes and documentation.
  • Maintaining privacy, dignity and professional boundaries.

Who We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in applicants who have direct experience supporting people with psychosocial disability.

You will be someone who:

  • Is calm, patient and emotionally mature.
  • Is reliable and takes committed shifts seriously.
  • Communicates respectfully and listens well.
  • Understands person-centred and trauma-informed support.
  • Encourages independence rather than automatically doing things for someone.
  • Can use good judgement and remain steady when situations are challenging.
  • Can work independently while communicating effectively with the wider team.
  • Understands the importance of dignity, privacy and professional boundaries.

Qualifications in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, Mental Health or a related area are highly regarded.

Requirements

Applicants should have, or be willing and eligible to obtain where appropriate:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Reliable and insured vehicle.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Relevant experience working in disability support.

Additional participant-specific training may be required before commencing particular supports.

Availability

We are looking for someone who can offer consistent availability, rather than availability that changes significantly from week to week.

Some evening and weekend shifts may be available depending on participant needs.

Please include your current days and hours of availability when applying.

About Mindful Pathways Support

Mindful Pathways Support is a registered NDIS provider based in Perth.

Our approach is psychology-informed, not clinical. We consider the whole person, including their strengths, communication, goals, motivation and emotional wellbeing.

We believe consistency creates trust, and trust creates the foundation for meaningful capacity building.

We work alongside participants, families and allied health teams to provide support that actually works in everyday life.

Our goal is simple: building independence, not dependency.

How to Apply

Please apply through Indeed with your current resume.

When applying, we'd also like to know:

1. What experience do you have supporting people with psychosocial disability?

2. What does good disability support look like to you?

3. What days and times are you currently available?

4. What Perth suburbs or areas are you comfortable travelling to?

We're looking for the right person to become a consistent part of our team, so we take the time to read applications carefully.

Pay: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
