Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
We understand that flexibility matters when considering your next role. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll carefully consider how we might accommodate them.
Ready to make a real impact?
This role sits within the Corporate Affairs team and leads the execution of Alinta Energy’s government relations strategy across Federal and relevant State Governments. Working with the General Manager, Government Relations, you’ll partner closely with the Executive Leadership Team, business unit leaders and project development teams to shape and advance policy and project outcomes. You’ll also work with project teams to create and implement stakeholder engagement plans aligned to project lifecycles. With a strong focus on securing support for major projects and policy initiatives, you’ll play a critical role in positioning Alinta Energy for long-term growth in a transforming energy market.
Why you’ll love working here
At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia - and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.
There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens, and lots more.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain relationships with Ministers, advisers and key stakeholders
- Lead government engagement strategies across project and policy lifecycles
- Support senior leaders with advice, briefings and messaging for government interactions and stakeholder engagement
- Track policy and regulatory developments and provide strategic insights
- Manage politically sensitive issues and mitigate reputational risks
Your experience
- Extensive experience across Federal and State politics
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability
- Ability to influence and navigate complex political environments
- Highly developed communication, briefing and presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills with ability to simplify complex issues
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Experience in ministerial offices, energy, infrastructure or regulated industries (desirable)
Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
This role is best suited to a strategic and proactive professional who thrives in complex environments and can influence outcomes at the highest levels of government.
