Full job description
Sitting within our Corporate Affairs division, our Government Relations team supports Macquarie’s engagement with government and diplomatic representatives, whilst developing and implementing the Group’s government relations strategy.
We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.
What role will you play?
In this role, you will be a key member of Macquarie’s Government Relations team. You will undertake policy research and analysis on issues relevant to Macquarie’s businesses, monitor political and regulatory developments, and help shape the Group’s engagement with government, regulators, industry bodies and diplomatic representatives.
You will work closely with stakeholders across Macquarie's businesses to identify policy opportunities and risks, support government engagement programs, coordinate responses to consultations, prepare high-quality briefing materials for senior leaders and provide strategic advice on government-related issues. This role also supports the planning and delivery of senior stakeholder meetings, industry forums, roundtables and government-facing events.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of public policy issues spanning financial services, infrastructure, energy, critical minerals, foreign investment and economic policy, while working closely with senior executives, government stakeholders and industry associations.
What you offer
- Ideally 2-3 years in a government relations or communications role, either in-house or at an agency.
- A bachelors degree in a relevant area such as communications, public policy, international relations, or a related field.
- A demonstrated interest in politics and government relations, with an understanding of the Australian political landscape.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear and concise advice for senior audiences.
- Experience preparing executive briefing materials, stakeholder correspondence, or policy documents.
- Excellent communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
We love hearing from anyone inspired to build a better future with us, if you're excited about the role or working at Macquarie we encourage you to apply.
What we offer
At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that’s rewarding in all the ways that matter most to you. Macquarie employees can access a wide range of benefits which, depending on employment type, include:
- 1 wellbeing leave day per year
- Up to 5 additional service bonus leave days per year
- Up to 20 weeks’ paid parental leave for primary caregivers along with 12 days of transition leave upon return to work, and 6 weeks’ paid leave for non-primary caregivers
- 2 days of paid volunteer leave and donation matching
- Up to 12 months’ gender affirmation leave, including 6 weeks’ paid leave
- Access to Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing benefits including skin and health checks, and flu vaccinations
- Access to a wide range of salary packaging options
- Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities, including reimbursement for professional membership or subscription
- Hybrid and flexible working arrangements, dependent on role
- Reimbursement for work from home equipment
