The role:
Responsible for leading quality assurance, compliance and product safety activities across the Merchandise function, the Quality & Compliance Manager partners closely with Category, Operations, Legal, Safety, Supply Chain and suppliers to ensure products, suppliers and processes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, regulatory compliance and brand integrity while supporting business growth and risk management.

You Will Provide:
  • Leadership of quality assurance, product compliance and supplier assurance programs across merchandise categories.
  • Oversight of regulatory, packaging and labelling compliance, ensuring products meet legal and industry requirements.
  • Management of food safety, product safety and equipment compliance activities across the retail network.
  • Development and implementation of quality standards, controls and governance frameworks.
  • Coordination of product testing, supplier audits, certifications and assurance programs.
  • Investigation and management of quality, safety and compliance incidents, including product recalls and withdrawals where required.
  • Identification and mitigation of quality and compliance risks through proactive stakeholder engagement.
  • Expert advice and guidance to senior leaders on quality, regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Collaboration with suppliers, regulators, laboratories and third-party partners to maintain compliance standards.
  • Leadership and coaching of teams and stakeholders to strengthen quality and compliance capability across the business.

About You:
  • Demonstrated experience leading quality, compliance, product assurance, food safety or regulatory functions within retail, FMCG, food, convenience, QSR or multi-site environments.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive outcomes, manage competing priorities and lead through ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build credibility across diverse business functions.
  • Experience managing supplier assurance, product testing, audits, packaging and labelling compliance programs.
  • Strong understanding of product quality, food safety, regulatory compliance and risk management principles.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, practical and commercially balanced advice.
  • Experience managing incidents, investigations, product recalls or compliance-related issues.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Quality, Compliance, Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Risk, Business or a related discipline (desirable).
  • Experience working with regulators, suppliers, auditors, laboratories or third-party quality partners (desirable).
