Quality Assurance Analyst

Pathway IBU

Position Summary

As a Quality Assurance Analyst, you will be focused on the quality components of Pathway across its breadth of modules. It’s also expected that you have a general understanding of how Pathway integrates within its own modules, as well interfacing to third-party products such as Microsoft Word, Email, GIS and EDMS.

Your responsibilities will be (but not limited to) quality assurance testing, regression testing, fix testing, analysing customer business requirements for Pathway configuration and ensuring the overall quality of Pathway meets expectations. The position involves close interaction with customers, support teams and of course the developers.

The Quality Assurance Analyst is expected to possess hands-on understanding of the product functionality and needs of users. As well as an understanding of any changes in the Local Government sector that would have a direct bearing on the way Pathway is developed to best meet those changes.

The Quality Assurance Analyst will also be involved in the relevant input into documentation as applicable to the Software Development Lifecyle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist delivering a quality product to the Customer base.
  • Undertake as well as define System Testing and Fix Testing procedures and documentation as part of the software development cycle.
  • Investigate software defects, documentation or procedural issues reported by customers and investigate, document, and recommend solutions in accordance with procedures.
  • Provide primary level of contact for investigation into support and development issues that are assigned to you. Provide effective communication of the resolution of these back to the R&D Manager and nominated contacts.
  • Check Release Notes for Software releases, Service packs and fixes are meaningful and easily understood prior to the work item passing to the Customer in accordance with the standard development procedures.
  • Assist with Develop Functional Specifications, System Test Plans, Regression Test Plans and Load Testing Plans as requested.
  • Review and provide feedback on Functional Specifications, Unit Test Plans, System Test Plans and Release Notes as requested.
  • Identify, recommend, or address procedural improvements.
  • Adhere to all internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist with other duties as requested from time to time by the R&D Manager.


Key Requirements / Experience

  • A commitment to Customer Service and Satisfaction by having tested software solutions thoroughly.
  • Achievement of completing testing requirements to meet the Development Schedules as specified by the R&D Manager.
  • Enhance and maintain Pathway adhering to the software development standards and procedures. This encompasses testing fixes and regression testing as required.
  • Provide product assistance and support to Management, Developers, Support Representatives and System Testers where required.
  • An effective Team/Staff Environment.
  • Assist R&D Manager in investigations to product functionality and enhancements as required.
  • Assist R&D staff with product function queries and suggestions.
  • Ability and proven experience interfacing with all levels of management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and undertake tasks.
  • Proficiency with personal and productivity tools including MS Office, MS Project etc.
  • A confident and positive mindset with a willingness to learn.
  • A commitment to the delivery of quality software.
  • Excellent customer service focus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior logic, attention to detail and analytical approach to software development and testing.
  • Highly Skilled at developing relationships with customers, colleagues and Management.
  • Ability to accept as well as provide direction on product development and system testing, ability to work in a team environment.
  • Able to exhibit ability to perform under pressure.
  • Proven ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to grasp new concepts and skills.
  • Excellent time and task management skills, including ability to manage concurrent tasks and priorities.
