About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join our automotive repair and servicing workshop in [ Green Crash Repairs ].

The role is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, testing and repairing petrol engines and the mechanical components of light motor vehicles, including transmissions, braking, steering and suspension systems. The successful candidate will carry out scheduled servicing, mechanical repairs and diagnostic work in accordance with manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures and relevant safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

● Detects and diagnoses mechanical faults in vehicle engines and related mechanical components using appropriate diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.

● Inspect, test and assess petrol engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking systems and other mechanical components to identify faults, wear or damage.

● Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other mechanical components as required for inspection and repair.

● Repair or replace worn, defective or damaged mechanical components and parts.

● Reassemble engines and mechanical components following repair or replacement work. ● Perform scheduled vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service schedules.

● Carry out oil and filter changes, fluid inspections and replacement, brake servicing and other routine maintenance procedures.

● Test and adjust repaired mechanical components and systems to ensure correct operation and vehicle performance.

● Use diagnostic equipment, workshop manuals and manufacturer specifications to determine faults and appropriate repair procedures.

● Complete Repair Orders, Job Cards and Work Orders accurately, recording identified faults, causes, repairs performed, parts replaced and rectification work undertaken.

● Identify required replacement parts and components and arrange or request parts necessary to complete mechanical repairs.

● Inspect vehicles following servicing or repair work to ensure repairs have been completed correctly and safely.

● Advise the Workshop Controller or Manager of additional repairs identified, delays or issues affecting completion of scheduled work.

● Maintain workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and machinery in safe working condition. ● Maintain a clean and safe working environment and comply with workplace health and safety procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

● Relevant automotive mechanical trade qualification or equivalent.

● Previous practical experience working as a Motor Mechanic, preferably servicing and repairing light motor vehicles.

● Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing petrol engines and associated mechanical components.

● Experience servicing and repairing transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension systems.

● Ability to use automotive diagnostic equipment and interpret diagnostic results. ● Sound knowledge of vehicle servicing procedures, mechanical systems and manufacturer specifications.

● Ability to accurately complete job cards, repair orders and service records. ● Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

● Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements within an automotive workshop.

● Current Australian driver's licence, with the ability to drive manual vehicles preferred.

Pay: $79,423.00 – $82,000.00 per year
