About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, reliable and highly organised Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our growing business group in a flexible, work-from-home position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping, financial reporting, BAS preparation and lodgement, payroll administration, and Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) accounting.

We are looking for a proactive professional who can work independently, maintain accurate financial records, meet deadlines and provide valuable financial insights to support our business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Bookkeeping: Manage daily bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, invoicing and general ledger maintenance.
• BAS & GST: Prepare BAS and IAS, reconcile GST and PAYG obligations, and arrange lodgements within applicable registration requirements.
• Payroll: Process weekly, fortnightly or monthly payroll, including PAYG withholding, superannuation, leave entitlements, Single Touch Payroll (STP) and payroll tax compliance.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, budgets and financial performance summaries.
• SMSF Accounting: Maintain SMSF financial records, reconcile investments and transactions, prepare annual financial statements and assist with tax returns, audits and compliance requirements.
• Tax & Compliance: Assist with company, trust and individual tax preparation, reconciliations, record keeping and statutory reporting.
• Multiple Entities: Manage accounting records for multiple companies, trusts and related business entities.
• Year-End Accounts: Assist with year-end financial statements and coordinate with external accountants, auditors and tax advisers.
• Financial Analysis: Identify discrepancies, improve accounting processes and provide recommendations to improve financial efficiency.

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant Australian bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, GST, BAS, payroll and superannuation requirements.
• Practical experience in SMSF accounting and compliance.
• Proficiency in Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
• Experience managing multiple business entities is highly desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and time management.
• Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines.
• Accounting or bookkeeping qualifications are highly regarded.
• CPA, CA or registered BAS Agent qualifications are an advantage.

Pay: $56,200.00 – $110,000.00 per year
