    Opportunity Available – GP VMO / Staff Specialist (Barham)
    Based at Barham Health Service, you’ll provide high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of general practice and procedural services, ensuring care is safe, effective, evidence-based, and community-focused.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Deliver admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth, and on-call services as required by MLHD.
    • Be available during rostered hours and while on-call, including for clinical handover, supervision, teaching, and emergency or routine care.
    • Provide education and support to clinicians across multiple disciplines to promote high-quality education and safe clinical practice.

    Remuneration – Choose the Path That Suits You
    Visiting Medical Officer (VMO)
    • Earn up to $247.30/hour (GP rate + practice rate) — equivalent to $474,816 + super (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks).
    • Earn up to $275.85/hour (Specialist rate + practice rate) — equivalent to $529,632 + super (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks).
    • Senior Specialist VMOs can earn up to $293.75/hour, equating to $564,000 + super (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks).
    Staff Specialist
    • Permanent employment with superannuation, leave entitlements, relocation support, and other benefits.
    • Competitive base salary up to $299,825 + super, with additional allowances and incentives.

    • Minimum three (
    • years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage.
    • Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
    • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and research and quality improvement.
    • Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
    • Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
