About Us

The Lumiere Foundation is a Not for Profit (NFP) organisation supporting

people experiencing disadvantages, trauma and complex life challenges. We partner with community service organisations to provide skilled staff to disability and Out-of-Home Care services, helping young people stay safe, supported and connected.

Every person in our organisation plays a role in delivering consistent, high-quality care, whether supporting young people directly or working behind the scenes. At Lumiere Foundation, your work creates real change, for a brighter tomorrow.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Youth Workers to support children and young people living in Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) with our partner organisation, Interactive Community Care (ICCare). You will be employed by Lumiere Foundation and work onsite with ICCare's residential care services.

In this role, you will help young people build life skills, confidence, and resilience while maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day care and supervision in a residential setting, ensuring young people are safe and supported at all times.
  • Support young people to build independent living skills, daily routines, and positive social communication.
  • Implement individual care plans based on each young person's needs, abilities, and goals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and incident reports in line with policy and procedure.
  • Encourage participation in recreational and community activities that build confidence and life skills.
  • Provide emotional support and intervene appropriately during behavioural or crisis situations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Qualifications Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or related field.
  • Experience: Previous work experience (ideally 3 years plus) with young people in residential OOHC or a similar care setting is required.
  • Practice knowledge: Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and the needs of young people in residential environments.
  • Communication Requirements: Demonstrated written documentation skills and English proficiency for professional case notes, reports and verbal communication are essential.
  • Interpersonal skills: Able to build rapport, communicate calmly, and model positive behaviour that promotes independence.
  • Teamwork & resilience: Confident working independently and within a fast-paced, dynamic team.
  • Highly regarded: Training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention or equivalent.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full, unrestricted Australian working rights.
  • National Crime Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Licensing & transport: Current Australian driver's licence and reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
  • Availability for a variety of different shifts over a fortnightly roster (day/evening/sleepover/weekend).

What we Offer:

  • Casual employment.
  • Competitive hourly casual rate of $48.31 (inclusive of 25% loading) plus penalty rates paid on shifts (as per the SCHADS award)
  • The opportunity to work with a supportive, trauma-informed team focused on safe, high-quality care for young people.
  • Training and development opportunities including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.
  • A workplace that values diversity, inclusion, and equal employment opportunities.
  • Dedicated on-call team for after-hours support.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program.
