Full job description

Posted Thursday 13 August 2026 at 1:00 pm | Expires Monday 14 September 2026 at 12:59 pm

When you join MercyCare, you become part of something bigger than a job. You join a community of people who show up for Western Australians at the moments that matter most - from early learning and disability support, to family, community and aged care services. We live by our values of respect, integrity, compassion, justice, excellence and courage, and we are committed to safeguarding and protecting children, young people and vulnerable people in our community.

About the role

Some people need a safe place to land. At Catherine House, you will help create that space. You will build genuine relationships, providing consistency, compassion and encouragement as women build confidence, develop life skills and work towards their goals including securing long-term accommodation. No two days are the same, and you will be part of a team that knows sometimes it’s the small things like a good conversation, a calm response or simply being there – that make the biggest difference.

We have multiple fixed fortnightly roster opportunities, including day, evening, active night and sleepover shifts.

About you

You’re down to earth, compassionate and able to stay calm when things get challenging. You know how to build trust without judgement, set healthy boundaries and bring a bit of humanity to every interaction. You’ll also understand that great support isn’t about doing everything for someone, it’s about walking alongside them and helping them find their own way forward. Some key experience and skills you bring will include:

  • Experience supporting people in residential, community services, family and domestic violence, homelessness or similar human services environments
  • An understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred and strengths-based practice
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive therapeutic relationships
  • Confidence with documentation, case notes and incident reporting
  • Certificate III in Community Services or similar (desirable)
  • A current Driver’s Licence
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last six months)

About the benefits

You’ll join an inclusive, diverse and welcoming Western Australian team that genuinely wants to make a difference. Our MercyCare Promise ensures our people are connected and empowered to do their best work. And because doing meaningful work is even better when you’re supported along the way, you’ll also enjoy:

  • Not for Profit Salary Packaging options
  • 5 weeks annual leave and 2 weeks personal leave
  • Childcare discounts for your little ones
  • Career pathways, professional development and training
  • Comprehensive Wellbeing Program including discounted health insurance and free flu vaccinations

How To Apply

Ready to make a difference at Catherine House? Our system will prepopulate your application details for you – yay for less typing!

Applications close on 14 September 2026, but apply early as recruitment may begin before this date.

Mercy Care values individuality. If you experience neurodiversity or live with a disability and would like accommodations to apply, contact hr@mercycare.com.au.

When life needs care, we are there.
