Full job description

Our popular restaurant in Hawthorn East is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team.

This is a full-time position, and applicants must be available to work weekends and evenings.

About the Role

Working closely with management, you will assist with the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and help lead and develop our team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring a high standard of a la carte service
  • Demonstrating strong knowledge of food and beverages
  • Greeting and seating customers and ensuring a high level of customer service
  • Managing restaurant sections and coordinating staff during service
  • Organising tables and bookings to ensure smooth service
  • Setting up and closing the restaurant
  • Preparing rosters based on business requirements and staff availability
  • Managing staff and assisting with training and development of junior and trainee employees
  • Maintaining OHS, cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Managing and maintaining the licensed bar
  • Preparing and serving alcoholic beverages
  • Liaising with the kitchen regarding bookings, events and customer requirements
  • Processing guest accounts and transactions
  • Maintaining the coffee station
  • Assisting with stocktake, purchasing and ordering
  • Using computer and POS systems
  • Assisting with menu preparation and adjustments
  • Monitoring rosters and staffing levels to maintain appropriate payroll costs

About You

  • Has previous restaurant or hospitality management experience
  • Is confident leading and motivating a team
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Is organised, reliable and able to work under pressure
  • Has strong knowledge of food, beverage and restaurant operations

  • Is flexible and available to work evenings and weekends
