The Opportunity

In this role, you will support the preparation and execution of pastry operations, delivering high-quality desserts, pastries, baked goods, and other sweet creations that enhance our guests' dining experiences. Working closely with the wider kitchen and Food & Beverage teams, you will ensure pastry production runs efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and consistency.

As a hands-on team member, you will play an important role in the daily operations of the pastry kitchen, supporting the delivery of exceptional products across our food and beverage outlets, events, and guest experiences.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare and execute pastries, desserts, baked goods, and other pastry items in line with hotel standards and service expectations
  • Assist in the preparation, baking, and presentation of pastry products with consistency and attention to detail
  • Ensure pastry mise en place is completed efficiently to support daily operations and service requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and food safety standards across all pastry kitchen areas
  • Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen and Food & Beverage teams to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines as directed by senior chefs
  • Assist with stock rotation, storage, ordering, and minimising food wastage
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety regulations
  • Support the pastry team during high-volume service periods, events, and special functions to maintain workflow and guest satisfaction
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-focused kitchen environment

Profile

  • Previous experience in a pastry, bakery, hotel, or professional kitchen environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of pastry preparation, baking techniques, and dessert production
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen best practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, creativity, and presentation
  • Team-oriented with a positive, reliable, and proactive attitude
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
