Full job description

Majestic Chinese Restaurant is looking for a skilled Cook to join their team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients and assist with the preparation of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s menu and quality standards.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared, cooked, and presented consistently with high standards of quality and taste.
  • Monitor food quality throughout preparation and cooking to ensure dishes meet the restaurant’s required standards.
  • Organise daily food preparation and ensure ingredients are ready for efficient kitchen operations.
  • Monitor food supplies and inform the Chef or senior kitchen staff when additional ingredients or supplies are required.
  • Store, handle, and rotate food ingredients in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Follow instructions from the Chef and senior kitchen staff regarding food preparation, cooking methods, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures while performing kitchen duties.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure the timely preparation and service of meals.
  • Ensure the proper storage and preservation of food items while maintaining food quality through effective stock rotation and portion control.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Certificate III level qualification or equivalent in the relevant field.
  • 3 years of recent experience in a cook role.
  • Good planning and organisation skills
  • Good arithmetic skills
  • Ability to work in a team co-operatively
  • Keen sense of taste and smell
  • Ability to remain calm in hectic circumstances

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
